Animals, fish, and creepy crawly things

We took a short vacation, just the four of us, to New Orleans. We spent all day Friday in New Orleans. Our morning started at the Audubon Zoo. The girls were so excited. We go to our little Alexandria Zoo often but there were going to be so many different animals that we weren't used to seeing all the time. We had a long day of walking and no naps and the girls were WONDERFUL! We couldn't have asked for them to behave any better, and we were shocked. However, it was probably because we were always doing something. The only down time we had was for lunch. We had a great day and the girls had a blast!!!

Allie's favorite part of the day was the carousel. It was a big hit with everyone!

We just visited the aquarium this past spring, but the girls loved it so much we figured since we were there we would just go back.

Then we went to the IMAX theater and watched part of a movie. That was probably the least successful part of the day. That movie couldn't hold our attention, much less our toddlers. The 3-D glasses were pretty hip though.

At the insectarium, Allie will tell you it was her favorite place.
Anna Grace "Ladybug" Hunter and the Ladybugs

They had a cafeteria where they had prepared bugs to eat in many different ways. They had wax worms that tasted like Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Allie tried that first and wasn't really too concerned about the bug part. Anna Grace ate hers so fast I didn't get a chance to get a picture of it. Then Allie tried the mango salsa with some kind of worm. She was a little more hesitant about it that time. Daddy tried too, Mommy was the only one that refused. And I in no way regret that decision!
