Anna Grace

Yesterday, January 13, we brought Anna Grace to a pediatric pulmonologist in Baton Rouge, La. This all started on October 29, 2008. She choked on something while by herself in our living room. We rushed her to the doctor's office where they sent for an abdominal xray. They found nothing. She began wheezing and was diagnosed with every kind of respitory disease you can imagine. After she was still wheezing in January we took her to a new doctor. After we told him the story of our perfectly healthy child who choked and has since been very unhealthy, he sent us to the pulmonologist. Dr. Thomas, the pulmonologist heard our story and immediately said of course, she's asperated something. He scheduled a brochoscopy for her today, where they would put her to sleep and look down into her lungs for a foreign object and attempt to remove it. I was scared enough, then during the procedure the doctor came and got us and said she had something lodged beneath her vocal chords. He had to call a pediatric surgeon to remove it. The anesthesiologist came out and told us we named her appropriately Grace, because if that thing (which ended up being a sticker) had in the almost 3 months it was there shifted the tiniest bit it would have completely closed off her airway! All we could say was PRAISE THE LORD! Now she is on a ventilator in the picu. They are giving her drugs to paralyze and sedate her so the swelling in her trachea can go down. We expect to be here atleast until Sunday. We are praying for a full recovery, but as of 10 pm on January 14 she is not out of the woods yet.
