updates

I honestly can't even begin to say thank you to everyone who has been praying for our family! I am every day getting so many notes of encouragement and happy thoughts sent our way. It has been so good for us to see the support we've gotten. We are out of the ICU!!! We got out last night around 8:30 and moved into a regular hospital room on the pediatric floor. I don't know that most parents that walk into their child's hospital room are as excited as parents who have just come out of the PICU. You have some sense of night and day, you have some privacy, you can eat in the room, you don't have to buzz and be identified to get in, there aren't as many bells and whistles going off, and it means we are one step closer to being home. We LOVED the nurses and doctors in the PICU and miss them very much. We had really gotten to know them and miss seeing the familiar faces, everything is new again and that's a little hard to take. She is still on the feeding tube, everyone has decided she is afraid to eat .So we now have a speech therapist who worked a little with her today and is going to work with her to get her comfortable with eating again. She also sees a physical therapist every day to get her muscles working again. She had just began walking before this happened but may not be able to when we go home, because of the paralytic and she's been in bed the whole time. She was awake today for a couple of hours and played with us. She is going through morphine withdrawals and they are trying to wean her off it, but when they give it to her she is a different child. She's very cranky and sleeps alot. I will be happy to have her off that stuff! Thanks again for your continual support and your prayers!
